Details and Procedures

Workshops are conducted by nationally known and local artists throughout the year.  Workshop price varies depending on the artist and the number of days to complete.  After being announced to the membership, via monthly meeting and electronically, the workshop will be opened to the public.    Workshops are usually limited to 20 people.  When class limit is met, applicants are placed on a waiting list.

To secure a reservation: A non-refundable deposit of $100 is required at sign up (checks will be cashed immediately) with the balance due six weeks prior to start of workshop.  If the payment balance is not made by the due date, your reservation may be given to the first name on the waiting list.   To sign up you may attend a monthly meeting and sign the workshop list, pay the deposit or send a check for the deposit to MPAS, PO Box 54, Mt Pleasant TX 75456 (please note on the check which workshop it is for).  You may also contact us via email and mail the deposit to the above address.  Your name will be added to the list.

Cancellation:  A three week notice prior to workshop start date is required to receive a refund (less the deposit). If the Artist or MPAS cancels the workshop, those enrolled will receive 100 percent payment refund.  MPAS may cancel the workshop if fewer than 10 people are enrolled two weeks prior to the start date.

Waiting List:  In case of cancellations or default of payment the workshop will be filled from the waiting list in the order of sign up.

Workshop Description

In this workshop we'll learn how to put a painting together from start to finish.  I'll give you technical tools to work with and fun exercises that will help you loosen up and enjoy the process of painting.  We'll talk about value and how to correctly see it-- look at the best way to achieve clean, fresh color--discuss drawing, composition and edges--talk about brushwork, paint quality, materials and inspiration.  While we will be painting still life, the methods discussed will apply to any subject matter or medium.
